De AKAI MPC5000 is het vlaggenschip van de AKAI MPC familie. De MPC 5000 bezit, net als eerste MPC, de mogelijkheid tot 8-track streaming harddisk recording, naast een 20-voice / 3-oscillator analoge synth met arpeggiator, een nieuwe sequencer engine met een 960 ppq resolutie, pad en track muting en 64 sample tracks. hij beschikt zelfs over een nieuwe FX engine met 4 FX buses en 2 FX per bus.
